• Apple Unveils iOS 10 with 10 Major New Features and Redesigns in WWDC 2016

Posted on June 15th, 2016 admin No comments

Apple’s annual weeklong Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) kicks off June 13 in San Francisco, in which the company unveils iOS 10, the next-generation operating system for iPhone/iPad/iPod touch. Apple CEO Tim Cook described iOS 10 as the “biggest release ever” for iOS users, and the operating system includes major updates for a wide variety of apps, services, and features, including Messages, Siri, Photos, Maps, Apple Music, News, Apple Pay, Control Center, and more. Now, I will show you ten major new features and redesigns for iOS 10 in the post below.
    ios 10

    1. Lock Screen

There is a redesigned Lock screen in iOS 10, which supports new rich notifications that support deeper interactions and more information without unlocking the iPhone or iPad. And there’s a redesigned Control Center that supports 3D Touch on the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. The Notification Center is now available by swiping left on the Lock screen to display all of its widgets, and swiping right offers quicker access to the camera.

    2. Siri

Apple is opening up Siri to developers. With “SiriKit,” Siri now can be built into third-party apps, significantly expanding the capabilities of the personal assistant, which can be used to send messages in third-party apps. For example, you’ll be able to ask things like “send a WhatsApp message to Emily saying I’ll be ten minutes late.” That brings up an interface to interact with WhatsApp directly.

Supported apps already include: Slack, WeChat, and WhatsApp for communication, as well as Uber, Didi in China, Runtastic, Runkeeper, MapMyRun, and Skype (among others) for VoIP calls.

    3. Photos App

Photos app in iOS 10 includes a new “Memories” tab that is designed to help users discover favorite and forgotten moments. Memories scans all of a user’s photos and videos to find people, places, and things, and group them up intelligently. Advanced facial recognition capabilities are able to group all photos of a specific person, and Photos can also aggregate images based around specific trips and locations. Live Photos can be edited in iOS 10 for the first time with new Live Filters.

The phone will cluster together photos that are most relevant at any moment — trips, photos of the last weekend or last year. It can then automatically edit together highlight reels of particular trips or events. It’s just like HTC’s Zoe photos.

    4. Apple Music

Apple Music has be complained by many users, now it is also redesigned in iOS 10 to make it simpler and easier to use. Tabs include “Library,” “For You,” “Browse,” and “Radio” to make discovering new content easier, and there’s a new “Search” tab to make it simpler to search for songs and albums. There’s also a new focus on Lyrics – swiping downwards on a song that’s playing displays the lyrics. All the redesigns will make the new user interface much cleaner than the old one.

    5. Apple Maps

In iOS 10, Apple is adding new proactive features to Maps along with a completely new redesign. So for example, your iPhone knows you typically go to work around the same time so if you open Maps around then, it’ll offer to guide you around traffic to work. That’s right, Maps now offers traffic on route. Proactive location features will also give you quick access to nearby restaurants when you open the app around dinnertime, for example. Apple also announced Maps Extensions, which are available to third-party developers. For example, if you search for a restaurant you can use an Open Table extension to make a reservation. Then you can use an Uber extension to book a ride — all without ever leaving Maps.

    6. Apple Home

iOS 10 is also equipped with a new Home app to control HomeKit products. The new Home app lets you turn on lights, unlock doors, and even raise your window shades — all at once if you like.

All of your HomeKit compatible accessories can be controlled in the Home app. It supports all the features most smart home hubs support, including scenes. For example, a “good night” command can draw all your blinds and turn off all your lights. HomeKit device controls are also being added to Control Center, and you can use Siri commands to control anything that can be controlled in Home.

    7. Apple Messages

Messages is one of the most frequently used app on iOS. It’s getting rich links in the new iOS version, allowing things like videos to play right in line inside the message. Emoji have been made three times bigger and, much to the crowd’s delight, Apple is going to highlight “emojifiable” words, which you’ll be able to just tap and automatically turn into emoji. Just like Google’s Allo, iOS 10 will allow you to say things using larger or smaller type. Messages is also getting bubble effects, which are just cute animations when displaying messages. Apple Music is integrated into Messages — can play a track right in line. And just like Maps and Siri, Messages are being opened up to developers with iMessage apps.

    8. Apple News

Apple News is also being redesigned with new distinct sections that make it easier to find stories concentrated on a single topic. There are also breaking news notifications and support for paid subscriptions. The For You tab now breaks news into personalized topics and hand-picked stories by editors.

    9. Phone App

The Phone app on the iPhone is also evolving, in iOS 10, it will have voicemail transcriptions so that you can see what messages have been received without having to listen to them. Additionally, the app can now detect when an unknown caller is potentially phone spam and will label those calls as such. A new VoIP API lets VoIP apps integrate into the Phone app, the lock screen and more, just like regular voice calls. This optimization for Phone app is especially aiming at China’s users’ issues, and Tencent Security provides the technical supports.

    10. Other New Features

Other new features include Rise to Wake feature, Apple Pay on the web, a side-by-side Safari split view on iPad, Notes collaboration, Quick Type enhancement, and a BedTime Alarm to schedule reminders to go to bed at a set time. There are dozens of smaller changes, which we’re listing in our dedicated Tidbits post.

  • New Graphite iPhone 5S and iPad mini 2’s cover leaked in high-res video

Posted on September 2nd, 2013 David Brooks No comments

Previously, the report of champagne iPhone 5S shows high reliability. Now, there’re new reports which are based on highly convinced high-res video that revealed the 7th generation of Apple iPhone would have one more brother – graphite iPhone 5S.

This means that besides the traditional black and white, there would be more color selections of the next iPhone, like champagne and graphite. And on the Sep. 10th Apple event, we may get even more choices.

Aside from the color of iPhone 5S, this newly leaked high quality video also revealed the housing design of the next iPad mini.

iPhone 5S and iPad mini 2 news

Though the iPhone 5S looks similar to iPhone 5 a lot, we could still see that in this high quality video, the iPhone 5S is featuring double LED flashlights and a smaller Mic jack. The video provides a fantastic detailed review on the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, including additional color frames for the phones. Reportedly, employees of T-Mobile, who requested not to be named – stated they are being told to limit vacation time in September, because all hands will be needed on deck. This of course brings some truth to the release of the highly anticipated iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C.

This video features a surprise visit from the back cover of the Apple iPad mini 2. Originally thought to be seeing the light of day along with the new iPhones on September 10th, those hopes are now dashed. The plastic on the top of the casing lets us know that this particular back is for a cellular enabled version of Apple’s 7.9 inch tablet.

We’re sure that many of you just can’t wait for September 10th when Apple is expected to unveil the Apple iPhone 5S and Apple iPhone 5C. right before the official release of Apple’s next iPhone, you could see the Samsung Galaxy Note III, the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch, and the Sony Xperia Z1. We believe the following weeks would be great for those who put fancy on smartphones and tablets. So, keep your eyes here as we would provide more info.

  • Rumors – iPhone 5S, iPad 5 and Next-Gen iPad mini Specs

Posted on August 14th, 2013 admin No comments

Rumors - iPhone 5S, iPad 5 and Next-Gen iPad mini Specs

iPhone 5, iPad 5 and the next-gen iPad mini are about to be released on the 10th of September. The Apple fans may concern about the specs of the coming new products, however I can only get some rumors about the specs of these products. If you are interested, check it out.

iPhone 5S: Nothing Much Have Been Changed

    iPhone 5S Concept

Probably the biggest change of iPhone 5S is that it will run with iOS 7. With this flat-design iOS, this new iPhone 5S may have a faster speed than former versions. However, the appearance of iOS 7 is controversial, some users who have tried iOS 7 Beta versions are not satisfied with the appearance of iOS 7. But iOS 7 is sure to be used on iPhone 5S so it’s no use to argue about it.

The IZGO screen is likely to be used on iPhone 5S, and this screen will bring increased brightness for iPhone 5S. The display of iPhone 5S will inherit from iPhone 5. iPhone 5S will still use the 4-inch screen and the thickness, width and length are exactly the same as iPhone 5.

iPhone 5S will run with an dual-core A7 processor, which is the upgraded version of A5. It is said that the A7 processor will bring a better CPU and GPU performance, and the iPhone 5S is going to run faster than iPhone 5.

The battery life is increased in iPhone 5S by about 8.6% than the iPhone 5’s. The rumors on the iPhone 5S’ battery life are not that many, but I hope it is true.

    iPad 5: Bigger iPad mini?

    iPad 5 Concept

iOS 7 is about to be used in iPad 5.

The Screen of iPad 5 will be the same as iPad mini. GF2 touchscreen technology will be applied on iPad 5, which is about to make this 9.7-inch tablet thinner and lighter than the former versions. The iPad 5 will also reduce the bezels of the screen which will make it looks like the iPad mini. What’s more, iPad 5 may be equipped with a new touchscreen technology which may make iPad make response even when users wear gloves.

iPad 5 will run with the dual-core A7 processor. Compared with the A6 processor on the iPad 4, it is believed that the A7 will be faster than the A6X processor. But still, some rumors say that iPad 5 would use an updated A6X processor.

It is said that the iPad 5 will update the rear camera to an 8 mega-pixel one, and the 5 mega-pixel camera would no longer be used. For the users, who like taking pictures with iPad, would be able to transfer pictures to iPad 5 from former versions to make a comparison.

As the iPad 5 would like to reduce the bezels and use new touchscreen technology to make it lighter and thinner, so the battery is about to smaller than the battery of iPad 4, and the battery life may be shorter.

Next-Gen iPad mini: No Retina Display, More Colors

    Next-Gen iPad mini

The coming next-gen iPad mini are expected to have the Retina Display, and most of the iPad mini users want to have that change. But it seems that Apple will release a non-Retina Display version and the next year, the iPad mini with Retina Display will be released. So this coming iPad mini may not have the Retina Display.

The current iPad mini only has black and white versions. But it is said that the coming iPad mini would have the rainbow colors just like the iPhone 5C. If it is true, the iPad mini will have plastic covers as well.
The iPad mini would also use an upgraded A6X processor to instead of the current A5X processor. The rear camera of iPad mini would also be upgraded from 5 mega-pixel to 8 mega-pixel.

Those are some rumors of the coming iPhone 5S, iPad 5 and next-gen iPad mini. The prices of these new products are various on the Internet, so let’s just wait and see, but as far as I am concerned, the prices of these coming products would not be higher than the former products.

  • iPhone 5S, iPad 5 and Next-Gen iPad mini Are Coming

Posted on August 14th, 2013 admin No comments

    iPhone 5S with 3 Colors?

It may be a good news for the Apple fans that the iPhone 5S, iPad 5 and the next-gen iPad mini will be released on the 10th of September, however the iPhone 5C, is about to be released on October.

From the name of “5S”, it’s easy to find out that this iPhone is an updated version of iPhone 5, so users don’t have to expect for the crazy-new features of this iPhone. Actually, many iPhone users are eager to having a large-screen iPhone, but Apple hasn’t made it clear that the large-screen iPhone will be released, only the rumors go that the a large-screen iPhone might be released next year. For this iPhone 5S, maybe the greatest change is that it will run with iOS 7. The flat-design iOS is different from the former versions, and from the iOS 7 Betas, it’s not hard to find out that this iOS borrowed some Android ideas (task panel) and some jailbroken iPhone functions (blacklist for phone calls). So iOS 7 may be more user-friendly than former iOS, but meanwhile it is less personalized, it seems that this iOS is becoming more and more common. Will iOS 7 run long on iPhone? We’ll wait and see.

iPad 5 - Bigger iPad mini

Another two new products, iPad 5 and the next-gen iPad mini (name uncertain) are about to come alongside with the iPhone 5S. The iPad 5 is likely to be a bigger-size iPad mini because it ia going to use the film-based touch panel technology just as the iPad mini does. The bezel of iPad mini is also about to be reduced, and this iPad 5 will be thinner and lighter than the former iPads. The next-gen iPad mini, however, is probably not to be equipped with the Retina Display even if many iPad mini users expect Apple to do. The next-gen iPad mini may be a 7.9-inch screen tablet just like the former one. Although iPad and iPad mini won’t have any revolutionary changes, we still want to hear the news of the iPad and iPad mini, after all, we have waited long enough for the new iPad.

    iPhone Sales Map from ReadWrite

A post from ReadWrite, named “Apple needs a Roadmap, Again”, says that Apple now is in a zombie maintenance mode, and I think it makes sense. Apple hasn’t provided any genius products after Jobs’ death, and the market share of iPhone goes less and less. Apple just stays where it used to be, and is still losing itself in the success of iPads. The annual update is also a shortage for Apple to win the market share, although more than 1 billion people are using iPhone all over the world now, they want to update their iDevices to a new version. But if Apple keeps updating once a year, and no new characteristics are available to attract users’ attentions, those iPhone users may turn to other smart phones like Samsung Galaxy S4, Moto X and so on. It is now happening in some area, some iPhone users are not satisfied with the 4-inch screen iPhone, they choose 5-inch screen smartphones as alternatives, and they can transfer movies from iPhone to these large-screen smartphones for enjoyments. Maybe that’s why Samsung Galaxy S4 is now popular among all kinds of users. Apple says the user experience is the most important thing, but what Apple doing now is not like what they have said. Apple really needs a roadmap to redesign a route of development, whether it is going to listen to the customer or carry on developing unique products, Apple does need to think about it now, if the zombie maintenance mode existed for long, Apple would be rotten in the fierce smartphone market.

By the way, Apple got a “Live Listen” brand recently, and this brand is believed to have certain relations with the coming iTunes Radio.

  • The latest leaked images and analysis showed that Apple iPhone 5S would feature double LED flashlights and Finger scanner

Posted on August 12th, 2013 David Brooks No comments

We knew that the next iPhone is getting closer and closer. Apple is expected to officially release iPhone 5S on September 10th. According to the existing information and news, we know at least Apple would bring out an iPhone 5S on the release event.  Other products on the release event might include a cheap iPhone 5C and other iPads. We also know that there might be quite a few options in color of the next iPhone model. Now, according to the latest reports and leaks, some leaked images showed that the next iPhone 5S would be featuring double LED flash. And according to KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, considered to be well-connected to Apple, the next iteration of the Apple iPhone would feature a fingerprint scanner that would be connected to the phone’s home button.

    Apple-iPhone-5S-with-double-LED-flash

The opening for the flash is not elongated and not the circular cutout it was previously. It looks shorter than the usual Xenon flash, and just as large to fit two LED lights in. Moreover, the leaked parts show that the upcoming iPhone 5S will come with unchanged design, featuring the same plastic top and bottom strips on its back.

    iPhone-5S-with-double-LED-flash

Kuo is telling KGI’s clients that the button will be made of sapphire because of its properties that protect it from scratches. This will help protect the fingerprint scanner that will be embedded in the button. AuthenTec, the biometrics company bought by Apple last year, uses a different form of fingerprint scanning than other systems. Kuo says that the AuthenTec system is more likely not to be affected by dust. And the analyst also feels that the home button is a perfect place to put the fingerprint scanner so that iPhone users won’t get confused as to where to put their fingertip for scanning.

    fingerprint-scanner

The report states that the inclusion of the fingerprint scanner could help the Apple iPhone 5S pick up market share against Android and Windows Phone models. Additionally, the fingerprint scanner could actually perform some important functions such as helping to verify someone’s identification for mobile payments or for downloading and uploading files and content that has been placed in cloud based storage. But recently leaked pictures of parts for the phone do not show anything resembling a fingerprint scanner. Still, a PayPal executive let slip earlier this year, that the scanner will be a feature on the next iPhone and Apple has received patents for some of the technology involved.
